How the bounty system works

The bounty system generates contracts on other players who have accumulated heat. A bounty poster can sometimes be found at Pawn Shops — though they are not guaranteed to appear at every visit, so check several Pawn Shops to find one. When available, the poster shows the target’s last known location and an arrow pointing toward the target’s current area. You travel there, fight through any guards protecting the target, and take down the wanted player to collect the bounty.

Example payout from community reports: $16,000 for one completed bounty. Payouts scale with target heat level — players with higher police stars pay more. This makes bounty hunting a risk-reward choice: higher bounties mean heavier resistance.

Finding bounty targets

Bounty posters spawn at Pawn Shops. They do not appear every time, so you may need to visit several Pawn Shops before finding one. When a bounty is available, pick up the poster and check:

Follow the arrow to the marked area and search for the target. The Truck Stops location (added in UPDATE 2) can also be identified as a target’s last known location on bounty posters.

Bring a sidearm even if you normally run stealth. Guard fights near a bounty target can turn into firefights quickly. With UPDATE 2’s gun damage increase, guard fights end faster — adjust your combat expectations accordingly.

• Gifting one-use items lets you share health items and fuel cans with teammates before a bounty run
