Buy a Crowbar before you buy a personality
The Crowbar is the first tool that changes the economy. Fists open registers and ATMs. A crowbar opens them in one or two swings and, more important, lets you damage a vault or house safe from outside the wall. Stand on the exterior, swing into the volume of the safe, and wait for the break. Then step in for cash stacks and paintings. You skip a room full of NPCs who will call the cops and spike your stars.

A Mace early is the loud cousin of the same idea: smash vaults, safes, drawers, trash cans, ATMs, registers, and mailboxes. Mailboxes and trash cans are easy cash that beginners walk past.
Attach paintings to the hood with Q
Vault art is bulky. Inventory (F) fills. Press Q to attach large loot to the car instead of eating every slot. Drive to TrashAmerica / the pawn basket, detach, sell. This is how a Kansas bank turns into 1.5k+ before you have a “real” gun.
If the car dies, attached loot can die with it. Bail with C only after you decide the bag on the hood is worth less than your legs.
Military base vault: free Minigun
When you can spare a detour, find the military base vault. Community routes treat it as a guaranteed Minigun. Bring crowbar or C4, grab the gun, buy Minigun ammo while you are there. The border snipers and helicopters are why this detour exists. A toaster collection will not clear that fight.
Do not take the Minigun on a Kansas joyride. Save it for How to Reach the Border and the last Texas stretch where fuel stops disappear.
Fuel canisters, drills, and the Texas gap
Kansas has Exxon-style stops. Texas-into-Mexico has a long dry gap. Pick up fuel canisters (~20 L extra) and keep them attached or in a large backpack. Drills / toolboxes / spray cans repair the car in the field. If you wait until the tank is empty on that highway, you are walking into FDI with a shopping cart.
Refueling after Update 1 is less fiddly: grab the nozzle, fill, leave. Still do it in cover. Still pay. Details: Healing and Repair and Getaway Driving.
Food heals, Medic Bags are free if stolen
Personal health does not passively refill. Apples, hotdogs, and fridge food at gas stations restore HP. Steal the Medic Bag off a counter instead of buying heals. Spend cash on backpacks, crowbars, and fuel. Healing and Repair covers vehicle HP separately.
Sawed-off shotgun as a jump tool
A sawed-off (community clips say “sauna off” / “zorn off”) can launch you if you jump and shoot the floor. Use it for height and repositioning, not as your only DPS plan. Pair with Advanced Combat. Police stations sometimes have free ammo if you are willing to enter the building — high risk, real magazines.
Stars, NPCs, and the Mexico left room
Killing civilians spikes wanted stars toward level 5 / FDI. If you only need the TV, do not execute the household. Dodge, grab, leave. Heat rules: Police Heat Levels.
At the Mexico barrier, community footage points to the left room as a useful last-fight angle. The prompt MEXICO BARRIER CLOSING IN is your commit signal. Pop police tires if a car is still glued to you. Bring a sniper or the military Minigun; weak pistols bounce off border HP.
Classes worth the CREDZ
